It is time for the Huskies to announce their captains for the coming season.
Ben Clayton fulfilled the role of club captain last year and we thank him for all of his contributions in the last 12 months.
We have decided to name joint club captains this season. The first of the players chosen is Hadden Bolstridge. Hadden has been with the club for several years and was recently a member of the U15 and U18 National Championship winning teams. He also plays with the senior Direwolves. In addition he has been part of the GB Lions programme. Hadden is one of the best young leaders in our club and we look forward to him being a great influence to our young players.
Sharing the duties with Hadden will be Aidan Cox. Again a double National Championship winner in the season just gone at U15 and U18. He is also a member of the senior Direwolves. Again, Aidan is a GB Lions player. Amongst the very best young talents in the club, Aidan will serve as a great example of hard work and dedication to the younger players. Aidan will also serve as captain of the under 15s.
Eleni Hallam will captain our U15B team this season. Eleni is a great prospect within the club and has earnt serious consideration for a place in A team, and will continue to do so. She's keen competitor and has also started to train with the club's ladies team, the Vixens.
For the first time we are pleased to announce that we have selected an Under 12 captain, and we have great pleasure on naming Isaac Oldham. Isaac has been a key ingredient in recent years at U9 and U12 level and has also started to make appearances at U15. Isaac is all about commitment, whether it be training or in games. His effort levels are always there to see and we feel he will be a great example to his team mates.
At Under 9 level we will nominate different captains from event to event as we look for the next young leaders to emerge.
Head Coach Ady Bull said ‘It has been quite a tough job selecting the captains for the age groups this year as the junior section is growing from strength to strength so we are getting plenty of candidates coming through, having said that we believe the selections we have made are totally deserved and justified. At any sport it is a honour to Captain your team, leading by example and being there for your teammates but also keeping teammates in line, our selections have showed all these attributes and we believe will be good leaders’
